In the last week of January, the municipality of Velenje hosted representatives of friendly cities from the Republic of Srbska and the Republic of Serbia.

The two-day visit in Velenje, was attended by Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Đokić, Minister for Economic Relations and Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska Zlatan Klokić, Member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Marko Vidaković, Chief of the Office of the President of the Republic of Srpska Danijel Dragičević and colleagues of the Office of the Prime Minister Republika Srpska. Visiting Velenje were also mayors of Istočno Novo Sarajevo Ljubiša Ćosić, Prijedor Milenko Đaković, Sremska Mitrovica Vladimir Sanader, Visegrad Mladen Đurević with colleagues and representatives of the cities of Banja Luka, Trebinje, Valjevo and Vranje.

The main purpose of the visit was to find new business opportunities. On Monday, 23 January, the Deputy Mayor of Velenje Peter Dermol presented the work of the municipal administration, successfully implemented projects and future plans. He particularly highlighted the opportunities offered by partner cooperation in the framework of European projects.
During their visit, guests have watched sewage treatment plant Grmov vrh, which with ultrafiltration system provides one of the most modern methods of purification of drinking water in Europe. Guests were also impressed with the production of cooking appliances in Gorenje and their showroom sales.
V nadaljevanju obiska so si gosti ogledali čistilno napravo Grmov vrh, ki s sistemom ultrafiltracije omogoča enega najbolj sodobnih načinov čiščenja pitne vode v Evropi. Gosti so bili navdušeni tudi nad proizvodnjo kuhalnih aparatov v Gorenju ter njihovim razstavno-prodajnim salonom.

On 24 January, at the Vila Bianca, a meeting of the businessmen of Velenje with representatives of cities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia took place. Presentation of companies and the possibilities of economic cooperation were presented by the member of the Group Management Board Gorenje Branko Apat, CEO of Esotech Marko Škoberne, Director of Plastic Skaza Tanja Skaza and Chairman of the Management Board of the Group Veplas Franc Vedenik, director Karla Sitar presented SAŠA inkubator.

We concluded the two-day meeting with a unique adventure in the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia.
The guests thanked for the kind reception and numerous useful information that they can use in their work. They also expressed readiness to participate in European projects.
